Colorado Buffaloes’ coach Deion Sanders would reportedly have a tough time turning down a move to an NFL team.

The Colorado coach has been attempting to convince everyone of his desire to remain with the Buffaloes despite plenty of noise around his chances of eventually taking an NFL job. Sanders have been telling reporters and fans he enjoys his job in Boulder and has no intention of leaving to step into the NFL.

However, there are beliefs that he could be willing to take the leap into the league if an NFL team drafts his son and Colorado quarterback Shedeur in the 2025 draft and offers him a head-coaching job.

FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt previously assured fans that there was no chance of Sanders leaving the college ranks, declaring last year that Sanders even told him so. However, he appears to have changed his tune when he spoke about the Colorado coach on FS1’s ‘The Herd’.

Klatt revealed his belief that there are two teams in the NFL that could lure Sanders away from Colorado. “I think it would be really hard for him to turn down the New York Giants or the Dallas Cowboys, those brands,” he said.

“Now here’s what I will say, though, is that, and I’ve made this this, it’s not really an argument. I’ve made this point before and I think that it remains truer today than ever, which is as much as Colorado was desperate for Deion Sanders. Deion Sanders needs a place like Colorado.”

One of Sanders’ main reason for not leaving the college game is his preference to be a mentor for young players rather than being the leading figure in an NFL team. At Colorado, Sanders has been given every tool at the college’s discrepancy to run the team, something he would be restricted with in the NFL, as well as the pressure on how he conducts himself and handles the media.

“Colorado turned over the keys, Deion could be totally himself and turned Colorado into Prime,” Klatt added. “He had the keys to the castle. Traditions were out the window. You can do whatever you want.

“He had clauses contractually where he could keep his merchandise and wear the sunglasses and do all of the things that make Deion, Deion, and allow him to mentor young men at the college level, which I know he feels like is his calling. Go to the NFL and see if you get all those.”

Both the Cowboys and Giants are tracking to have top-10 picks in the 2025 draft and the possibility of selecting Shedeur could be open to both. However, it would appear less likely for Dallas who signed Dak Prescott to a four-year, $240million extension during the off-season.

Meanwhile both teams have coaches but Mike McCarthy is not expected to return next year and Brian Daboll may find himself out of a job once the season ends given the Giants miserable 2-9 form. Interestingly, the two teams meet on Thursday in Arlington.
