Everyone is dying to know where Shedeur Sanders will land in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The 22-year-old quarterback is enjoying a vintage season with Colorado, helping the Buffaloes to an 8-3 record ahead of Friday’s game against Oklahoma State. He’s widely expected to be a first-round pick in next year’s draft and remains an outsider for the Heisman Trophy, although his teammate and two-way star Travis Hunter is leading that race.
Sanders will lean on the advice of his father Deion, who defied the odds to play both football and baseball at professional level. Deion remains the only man to win a Super Bowl – with both the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys – and appear in a World Series as part of the Atlanta Braves team that lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in 1992.

Deion, who is also his son’s head coach at Colorado, has hinted at playing a role in determining Shedeur’s landing spot. “Yeah, but I’m not going to do it publicly, I’ll do it privately,” said Deion when asked if he will step in if his son is picked by the wrong franchise.
So, it’s not just a case of first come, first serve for those NFL teams wanting to snap up the QB in next year’s draft. With that in mind, Mirror U.S. Sports has asked its team of experts to predict Shedeur’s future in football. Here’s what they said…

The smartest thing Shedeur can do in the NFL Draft is to play wherever he’s drafted. He’s clearly a good quarterback with a high ceiling, but why draw attention to yourself in a negative way before you’ve entered the league?
I know Eli Manning famously refused to play with the San Diego Chargers, but that didn’t have anything to do with football. In that case, Manning’s family seemingly had legitimate concerns about the organization’s safeguarding and helping with personal issues. That doesn’t seem to be the case with Sanders, it’s more Deion wanting to orchestrate his son’s career.
The last thing Shedeur will want as he embarks on his NFL career is for every headline about him to be linked back to his father, and for his successes to be compared or diminished. He should keep his head down and keep the talking on the field.

Shedeur’s father and coach Deion is noisy and likes to use the media to send out messages, but would he actually follow through? Is Shedeur enough of a prospect to imitate the likes of John Elway and Eli Manning?
The answer to the second question will take years to come to light, but Deion is a man made for headlines – and while he may be looking out for his son in terms of the organization, he truly wants Shedeur to land in a big, attractive, lucrative market.
If the Browns are in pole position to select Shedeur come April 2025, they best be looking at Cam Ward. Shedeur will land in either Las Vegas or New York – with Eli’s former team, the Giants.

By hook or by crook, Shedeur will be a Las Vegas Raider. Mark Davis’ side never shies away from the dramatic gesture, and bringing arguably the most famous family in the football world into the fold would certainly be a page out of his father’s playbook.

Shedeur is the best quarterback in this draft class, and I don’t think it is particularly close. While he may not have the athleticism that NFL GMs and coaches might crave, he feasts in the pocket and would represent a huge upgrade for the likes of the Raiders and Giants.
Will they draft him, though? I’m sure they would love to, but Sanders’ father is the unknown factor in this decision. He is sure to have a say in the process, but how far is he willing to push it? That will depend on where he sees his own future.
If Coach Prime has his heart set on an NFL return, I can foresee some kind of LeBron-Bronny James shenanigans where a situation is engineered for the Sanders to land in the same spot, perhaps with the Cowboys. But if Deion stays in Boulder – as he has insisted he will in recent weeks – the likes of the Giants and the Raiders will have the unenviable task of getting him onside.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll could be the deciding factor. Although his future is uncertain, he has a proven track record of developing quarterbacks. He worked wonders with Josh Allen, and he won a road playoff game with Daniel Jones for crying out loud.

Shedeur will not be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft – it will be Hunter. And I don’t believe Sanders is the first quarterback off the board in the draft – that will be Miami’s Ward.
That said, I do think Colorado’s star quarterback will be the second signal caller called, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Raiders end up drafting him. Of the teams struggling this season, Las Vegas makes the most sense, especially with Tom Brady’s influence.
Though Deion has made it clear he would “privately” step in to make sure Shedeur is not drafted by the “wrong” team, getting an opportunity to learn from Brady and having the keys to the franchise is an opportunity too good to pass up.

Shedeur has all the tools to become a top-five draft pick, and the Browns could find themselves in prime position to grab a quarterback in the top seven. Deshaun Watson’s time in Cleveland has been underwhelming, and Jameis Winston, while loved as an admirable competitor, doesn’t scream “long-term solution.”
The Browns’ front office would likely jump at the chance to rejuvenate the franchise with a young, dynamic quarterback to lead them back to relevance in the ultra-competitive AFC North. He’d face Lamar Jackson in Baltimore, Justin Fields or Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh, and Joe Burrow in Cincinnati.
Cleveland’s roster already features stars Nick Chubb, David Njoku, and Elijah Moore. Add a solid offensive line anchored by a healthy Jack Conklin and a defensive lineup led by Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward, and Devin Bush, and you’ve got the foundations of a team ready to make a playoff push.
Will Shedeur go first overall? Likely not, unless the Jacksonville Jaguars (who I think will end up with the first pick) shake the world. If the Jags get the first pick, they’ll take his Colorado teammate Hunter, a generational talent on both sides of the ball.

Shedeur will likely go first overall in the NFL Draft, mostly due to the fact that so many teams are in need of upgrading at the quarterback position. Over the last few years, we have seen that teams will happily select quarterbacks higher than they probably should be taken due to the nature of the position, while hitting on a rookie acts as a force-multiplier for franchises moving forward – allowing teams to allocate funds around their roster and building around a cheaper quarterback.
Sanders has made improvements in each season in college football – impressing behind a struggling offensive line while producing at a high-level. He expertly maneuvers in the pocket while throwing with pinpoint accuracy when rolling out, and has the ability to pick apart defenses when giving time to do so. However, I have worries on how his game will translate in the NFL, due to his limitations as an athlete.
While he looks to be the most-polished quarterback prospect in this draft, it’s tough to make a case that he’s the best player in the class. The likes of Hunter, Abdul Carter (Penn State) and Will Johnson (Michigan) will likely be seen as the only true blue-chip players.
The likes of the Giants, New York Jets and Raiders are sure to be considering making a move for him, with all three also likely to be looking for a new head coach, too… I would not rule out the Raiders making a move up the board for Shedeur and attempting to bring Deion with him.
