The Kansas City Chiefs endured a frustrating and lengthy travel ordeal on Saturday as they attempted to fly to Denver for their Week 18 matchup against the Broncos. A blizzard warning in Kansas City created significant disruptions at Kansas City International Airport, leaving the Chiefs’ team plane stranded on the runway for hours.
Initially scheduled to depart at 2:45 p.m. local time, the Chiefs’ charter flight faced multiple setbacks. The airport temporarily closed due to icy conditions, and when it reopened, the airport’s de-icing equipment malfunctioned, causing further delays.
Despite efforts to adjust their travel schedule to beat the worst of the weather, the team’s plans were thwarted when their charter plane was delayed arriving in Kansas City.
The Chiefs remained grounded on the runway for over four hours, waiting for clearance to take off. Finally, early Saturday evening, they were able to depart, but the delay added an unexpected challenge to an already unusual trip.
