The New York Jets will move on from Aaron Rodgers and could even end his year prematurely after a nightmare season – with the quarterback himself already deciding that he will leave… and that he could even be cut during this season.

Rumors have continued to swirl over the past few weeks when it comes to Rodgers’ future, with the legendary quarterback having his worst statistical season in years while turning 42 years old next season. But despite reports that he could retire, the four-time MVP is said to be looking to play next season and to do so with a new team.

The Athletic has reported that the Jets will look to place Rodgers on the injury report in the coming weeks to end his season, or that they could even bench him with the plan of cutting him ahead of 2025. The report adds that Rodgers has every intention of playing next season, but not with the Jets.

After firing both Robert Saleh (in October) and Joe Douglas (Tuesday), the Jets front office has already made it clear that they’re unhappy with the direction of the franchise and appear to be looking to clean house after a disastrous season.

While the Jets are without a head coach, nor a general manager heading into the new season, the decision to potentially move on from Rodgers is appearing to come from owner Woody Johnson – with reports suggesting that he has lost confidence in the veteran to lead the team to where he feels it should be.

The report states Rodgers could be cut during the season!

Shockingly, the report also states that the Jets could even cut Rodgers during the season this year while looking to move on and having no intention of bringing him back. This could allow the veteran quarterback to land with a team elsewhere – potentially competing for a Super Bowl.

The Jets came into the season with so much optimism around them, being favorites to win the AFC East above the Buffalo Bills, flattering to deceive both offensively and defensively despite their impressive overall roster.

The team would have to win out to have any chance of making the postseason, despite making big moves to improve the roster around Rodgers including bolstering their offensive line and trading for Davante Adams.
