Deion Sanders has once again verbally committed to staying at Colorado next season despite both of his sons to leave the team for the NFL, as well as potential number one pick Travis Hunter.
Colorado has long hoped to see Sanders remain with the school for the foreseeable future, amid rumors that he will have interest from the NFL – most notably with his former Dallas Cowboys likely to have an opening.
But Sanders is said to have told Fox Sports 1 reporter Joel Klatt that he has no interest in going to the NFL at this point, seeing his future in college football.

FS1 analyst Klatt revealed: “I asked Sanders last Friday, ‘Do you want to go to the NFL?’ And he looked at me and he said, ‘No.’ And I said, ‘Why?’ And he said, ‘Because I don’t feel like I would be fulfilling my calling and my purpose if I was there.’
“And I asked him to expand on that. And he said, ‘Listen, my calling is to impact young men and be a mentor to young men. I happen to do that through coaching. And I feel like I can do that better at the college level than I could with a bunch of professionals that might listen to me and might not listen to me because of the amount of money they’re being paid.'”
While Klatt conceded that Sanders could go to the Cowboys if owner Jerry Jones made an all-out pursuit for him – with the two being close friends – but he see’s that as unlikely at this point.

He added: “If Dallas makes him a great offer and his son is there, like could he go? Yeah, of course, he could go. Do I think that he desperately wants to? I don’t think that that’s the case. So if the opportunity arises, Dan, could he coach the Cowboys? Yes. And I think he would probably be really successful at it. I also know that he loves being at Colorado, and I won’t be surprised at all if he stays there.”
Sanders has also previously stated this on the record, when he told reporters back in 2023: “I don’t wanna do pros, I love college… I would never do pros.
“Colorado provided everything that I need, man. I’m having the time of my life. I love Boulder, Colorado. I love the kids that I get to coach. I love the recruiting process. I love it. I like the amateurism of it even though it’s turning to pros because everybody wants a bag now.
“I would have a hard time in the locker room with a guy that’s making a multitude of millions and he don’t want to play and don’t want to give his all. I would have a problem with that.”
