New South Park fans came to a shocking realization this week as they praised creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s ‘brilliant’ process to produce the animated adult sitcom
South Park fans came to a shocking realization this week after they they realized the creators of the animated sitcom puts together an episode in just six days.
For the past 27 years, South Park has followed a very fast-paced, six-day production cycle in order to keep up with all of the most timely news. This rapid turnaround time allows the series to stay topical and include only the most current events and references into their episodes.
In 2011, a documentary was released titled ‘6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park’ which outlined the speedy production process of the adult animated sitcom. While many fans have known this for some time, new viewers who have just begun tuning in for this controversial 27th season are only now just learning how South Park operates.
Under the latest trailer for South Park, one user observed, “So theyre definitely making these as they go along.. Im guessing it takes about a week to make an episode.”
To which someone else replied, “always been 6 days. To south park search it up there is a documentary it’s good.” And another fan added, “yeah its an incredibly fast workload. Unmatched by any other production especially in animation.”
Other long-time fans took aim at the user as one wrote, “are you new to South Park and dont know the literal concept of it? Its been like this.” And someone else piled in, “welcome, they have been doing this for a long time.” While someone else rudely chimed in, “they’ve always made them like this. Do you live under a rock?”
Someone else defending the original commenter penned, “why tf are people clowning on you for not knowing this. not everyone has to be a diehard fan of everything. but yea, theyve made the episodes as they go along since the beginning. Theres a sweet documentary about their process called ‘6 days to air’ I believe.”
They continued, “The creators are geniuses and their team of animators is incredible. Thats how they dropped an episode based on the Obama v McCain election and its result the NEXT DAY called ‘about last night,'”
In the latest South Park teaser titled ‘Sickofancy’, the creators once again pulled off the impressive feat of including only the most relevant issues into the episode. In the 20-second-long trailer, the South Park character Towelie is seen visiting Washington D.C.
But as Towelie enters the US capital, the city appeared to be under a militarized state thanks to President Donald Trump. This comes as Trump recently caught backlash over the decision to implement the Home Rule Act, which effectively gave the executive branch the power to control the police for 30 days.
