Travis Kelce had an impressive year in 2023 both on and off the field, with his relationship with pop megastar Taylor Swift confirmed and the Kansas City Chiefs winning Super Bowl LVIII.
And while a year like that would be an incredible accomplishment for most people, Kelce has the chance to one-up his already impressive year with an even better year in 2025. For that to happen, however, all the pieces must fall into place for the Chiefs star tight end.
The first piece to fall to make his 2025 even better than the previous two years would be Kansas City completing the three-peat. Currently, the Chiefs have the second-best odds to win Super Bowl LIX behind the Detroit Lions.

As it stands, both the Lions and Chiefs are 10-1, tied for the best record in the NFL, and for the first nine weeks of the 2024 NFL season, it appeared as if Kansas City would be undefeated en route to another title. However, the Chiefs fell to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills to give them their first loss of the season.
Still, the Chiefs rebounded against the Carolina Panthers, 30-27, seemingly putting Kansas City back on track to make history. Additionally, while Kelce’s numbers this season are down compared to years past, the 35-year-old is still producing, surpassing Antonio Gates for the third-most receiving yards by a tight end in league history.
If Kelce continues to remain one of Patrick Mahomes’ main targets, he could be an unstoppable force by the time the playoffs roll around and in the Super Bowl if the Chiefs make it that far. If Kansas City does make it to the Big Game, it would be difficult to bet against the trio of Mahomes, Kelce, and head coach Andy Reid.

Should Kelce capture his fourth Super Bowl title, he could take a good look at his performance and decide to call it a career, leaving the game after winning the biggest prize in the sport. At 35, Kelce is at an age where athletes see their performance decline as Father Time begins to catch up.
For Kelce, he is closer to the end of his career than he would like to admit, which makes a potential decision to retire somewhat easier to think about. That said, the tight end signed a two-year, $34.25 million contract extension – making him the highest-paid tight end in the league – before the 2024 season which will keep him in Kansas City until 2027, when he will be 38 years old.
If Kelce plans to walk away from the game, there are no better times to make the announcement than after winning a championship, though if he feels he can continue to perform at a high level, he could continue playing. That said, if Kelce decides to hang up his cleats, he could cap off his 2025 with an engagement to Swift.
Since the two have been dating, social media has been buzzing, wondering when the Chiefs star will pop the question. However, Kelce admitted to wanting his relationship to grow “naturally” and has not put out a date of when he will propose.
Kelce told his older brother Jason as much during an episode of the “New Heights” podcast. “I feel like [it’s] when you know someone’s life,” the younger Kelce brother said.
“When you see someone’s day-to-day, you can understand that, and you get into a routine of being with that person or talking to that person about their daily routines consistently. You naturally just feel the genuine connection.”
Kelce proposing to Swift next year could cap off what is shaping up to be a rather interesting year for the star tight end, especially if he wins another championship with Kansas City and announces his retirement from the game.
