Vin Diesel is putting the rumors of a feud with Dwayne Johnson to rest in his own playful style.

After throwing out a cheeky greeting to his former Fast & Furious franchise co-star at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday evening, the Guardians of the Galaxy actor took to Instagram to quash lingering speculations of a rift between the two.

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the actor posted a throwback picture of himself and Johnson smiling and posing on Instagram. The image is from the 2011 premiere of the fifth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise in Rio de Janeiro. In the snap, Diesel can be seen flashing a thumbs up at the camera as the pair smile with arms around each other. He captioned the post: “All love… Always…”

The post comes after a moment at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday night, where Diesel, 57, gave a slight but notable shoutout to Johnson, 52, before presenting the award for cinematic and box office achievement to Wicked.

“Hi Dwayne…” he smiled, looking at the Moana 2 star before presenting the award.

The very public shoutout comes after years of reports of a rift between the two. Rumors began swirling in 2016 after filming concluded for 2017’s The Fate of the Furious. Since those initial reports, countless accounts of their alleged behind-the-scenes drama have emerged.

The actors were rumored to have butted heads on more than one occasion while shooting the eighth installment of the iconic movie franchise.

In August of that year, Johnson posted a lengthy statement to Instagram where he praised his female costars and the Fate of the Furious crew while criticizing unnamed male costars.

“There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one,” he wrote in the since-deleted post. “My female costars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male costars, however, are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t.”

Diesel, however, refuted the claims, saying that the two were “close.”

“I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention,” he said of Johnson’s Instagram statement. “I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”

Johnson took a break from the franchise in 2021. In October of that same year, he spoke to Vanity Fair, telling the outlet that he only agreed to appear in The Fate of the Furious if he didn’t have to share scenes with Diesel.

Since Diesel’s viral moment at the Globes, the award ceremony producers have also confirmed that the moment between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson was entirely unexpected and unscripted.

Glenn Weiss, the telecast’s executive producer, told Variety that the unprompted interaction between the actors sparked producer concern.

“It kind of keeps you gripped, and even you in the press room, us in the truck, are going, ‘Wait, what? What’s happening?’ ” he told the outlet.

“At that point, there’s a live event taking place, and our job is to bring it to you and let you decipher it. What is the exchange going on between them? I think it’s really important to show what’s happening in the room,” he continued.
