A kind volunteer took in a tiny rescued kitten to provide a temporary home, but little did they know, the mischievous kitty had his own ideas and agenda in mind.
Not long ago, the McComb Animal Shelter in Mississippi welcomed a tiny kitten in need of some extra love and care. Thankfully, a kind-hearted individual rescued the little feline from a rough situation after spotting him being mistreated by a group of youngsters on the street.
A passionate volunteer named Madison VanNess at the shelter decided to pay the kitten a visit upon hearing his cries echoing from his enclosure. Approaching him, she noticed his desperate plea for attention and affection, as he meowed even louder.
Upon picking him up, the kitten immediately began to purr contentedly in Madison’s arms. Showing affection, he climbed onto her shoulders and nuzzled her face, creating an instant bond between the two. Madison described the sweet moment as “love at first sight,” as she felt an immediate connection with the little furball.
Madison VanNess, also known as @gatsbycatsby19, shared a heartwarming story about a pitiful and dirty cat she rescued. After keeping him at the shelter for a few days to ensure he was healthy, she decided to foster him at her home. She named him Gatsby, expecting him to stay with her until he found a forever home. Little did she know, this Snowshoe kitty had his own ideas and plans in store.
As soon as Gatsby set foot in the house, he wasted no time in getting cozy. Fearless and self-assured, he had no problem approaching anyone he encountered.
“He wasted no time snuggling up with my dachshunds and dozing off. Even my cats, who usually hold their own, didn’t faze him. He raced around the house like a little whirlwind, then settled down in my lap when he was ready to chill,” Madison recalled.
“I’ve fostered plenty of cats in the past, but none have acclimated as fast as Gatsby did.”

“He’s really talkative and thrives on getting attention from anyone he meets. He’s a social butterfly, making friends effortlessly.”
Madison VanNess, also known as @gatsbycatsby19 on social media, shared an endearing insight into her beloved cat’s personality. Gatsby loves snuggling close to his human’s face, relishing in pets and ear scratches. He’s an active feline who enjoys play-wrestling with Willow, their female dachshund, and trailing behind Oreo, their male dachshund.

According to Madison, Gatsby embodies the typical kitten behavior – running amok, leaping onto surfaces, and pestering for treats. However, his mischievous side shines through when he raids cabinets, seizes entire packages of snacks, and dashes off with his loot!
Madison VanNess, known as @gatsbycatsby19 on social media, shared how Gatsby, her new kitten, made an effort to win over their resident cat Peach, who was not initially keen on having a new feline friend. Surprisingly, Gatsby also bonded well with Yoshi, another cat in the household.
Reflecting on their growing bond, Madison admitted, “He truly captured my heart with each passing day. When it was time for him to be fixed at the two-pound mark, I returned him to the shelter temporarily and promised myself that if my home felt empty without him, I would officially adopt him,” she shared with Love Meow.
Madison VanNess @gatsbycatsby19 shared her experience of how awkward it felt when there wasn’t a cat constantly meowing at her or trying to cuddle with her. The next Friday, she completed the necessary paperwork, took the adoption photo, and officially welcomed little Gatsby into her family forever.
