New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has brushed off rumors of a disagreement with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, following speculation that he might depart if the seasoned quarterback remains for 2025.
The Jets have had another challenging season and are decidedly out of the playoff picture before their final regular-season game at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Jeff Ulbrich’s team currently sits in third place in the AFC East with a 4-12 record. Given the numerous hurdles the Jets have faced this season, Rodgers and Wilson have had their fair share of heated exchanges but insist there’s no bad blood between them.

“Yeah, I’ve seen some of that,” Wilson told ESPN earlier this week. “Yeah, I mean, there’s no truth to that. At the end of the day, I don’t speak on things like that because social media is not real.”
While the rumor didn’t solely stem from social media, Wilson was eager to squash it. However, he did voice his dissatisfaction with the team’s record, hinting that this alone could stir up frustration within the Jets, reports the Irish Star.
Quarterback Wilson opened up about the internal strife, saying, “This is my first time addressing it,” and elaborated on the challenges they faced: “That stuff is just words for people trying to figure out a way to divide us more than they’ve already tried, like the record isn’t enough.
“Obviously, we’ve got a lot going on here, especially this season, trying to dig ourselves out of this hole. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to. But my feet are where my feet are at, and I’m going to try and finish this thing the right way.”
His comments add fuel to rumors about friction with Rodgers and questions surrounding the Jets’ disappointing season. Despite Aaron Rodgers’ rocky start since 2023, punctuated by an early-season injury, fans had high hopes which fell flat as the Jets continued their playoff drought into another season.
There’s much anticipation around the changes expected in the team, including a new general manager and head coach tasked with overturning the Jets’ fortunes.
