Aaron Rodgers openly stated that he finds humor in his ongoing situation with the New York Jets and of the idea that he could be released in the coming weeks.

Rodgers‘ future with the Jets looks extremely unclear at this point, with the team having just two games left of the season after already being eliminated from playoff contention with reports suggesting that owner Woody Johnson is leaning towards letting the veteran quarterback leave.

The 41-year-old appeared on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ once again this week and was asked about The Athletic’s report that Johnson’s teenage sons apparently have a say in major roster decisions this season – and potentially making the decision on his future in the next couple of weeks.

Rodgers smiled when asked about the reports and the possibilities that he’ll be released, before stating: “I’ve never been released before. So, being released would be a first; being released by a teenager, that would also be a first. So, hey, I’m open to everything and I find the comedy in all of it. If that happens, hey, it’s a great story!”

Johnson’s sons, Brick, 18, and Jack, 16, reportedly led their father to overrule a trade that former general manager had hoped to make in acquiring Jerry Jeudy, with his player rating on Madden said to have been a reason why, with Douglas said to be shocked. Jeudy has gone on to have an incredible season with 1,072 yards – more than any receiver on the Jets.

Despite the hilarious nature of these reports, Rodgers laughing about the idea of him being released is undoubtedly going to anger ownership, with the quarterback set to make a decision on whether he’ll play after the season if he is to be cut.

Prior to the game with the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Rodgers told reporters: “I’m going to take some time after the year, unless I get released right away. But I’ll still take some time [to determine] whether I want to play.”

Should Rodgers opt to return for another season with another team, it remains unclear if any franchises would have interest in bringing him in.
